This year witnessed the appearance of Agrobiology Institute, Plant Protection Institute, Agricultural Nano-technology Institute and Institute of Agro-chemicalization in the area of the Academy of Agricultural Science. And the Onchon Branch of the Rice Institute specializing in the research into tideland farming on the west coast came into being.

The emergence of those institutes, equipped with all necessary facilities, makes it possible to further strengthen the scientific research foundation conducive to the stable and sustained development of the country's agricultural production.

U Kwang Sik, vice-president of the Academy of Agricultural Science, told KCNA:

Agrobiologists have introduced new research findings into farms, while conducting a brisk dissemination of scientific farming technologies.

Botanists are striving to put the monitoring harmful insects on an IT and scientific basis of higher level.

Agricultural nano technology research has been actively conducted. Nano germicide and functional nano plastic sheet were developed and introduced.
