Japan's Past Crime Committed against Korean People
Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- Early in the last century, the Japanese imperialists illegally occupied Korea and inflicted untold misfortunes and pains upon the Korean people by cooking up lots of fascist laws.

Among those evil laws was the "order for the probation of Korean political offenders".

This evil law, a retrogressive revision of "ordinance on probation for political offenders" enforced in Japan, was enacted in December 1936 in a bid to keep the communists, patriots and fighters for independence of Korea under the control and suppress them. It defined as an object of "probation" those given a suspended sentence, discharged from prosecution and paroled or those who served punishment as violators of the "public peace maintenance act". Under the law, the above-said persons were restricted in their freedom of action like residence, acquaintance and exchange of letters, with their every movement always put under observation and control.

On the basis of the evil law, the Japanese imperialists established "detention centers for the probation of political offenders" in Pyongyang, Hamhung and other major cities of Korea and haled the objects of "probation" into the detention centers at any time to force them to be Japanese subjects.

In February 1941, they enforced more evil "order for preventive detention of Korean political offenders" to arrest and kill at random not only the patriots who were listed as "person under surveillance", "person with threatening idea" and "delinquent and riotous Korean", but also all other Koreans incurring their displeasure.

According to disclosed data, the Japanese imperialists walked away more than 92,580 people to the prisons and "detention centers for the probation of political offenders" on a charge of "thought offenders" in 1936 and 165,300-odd people in 1938, and most of them were killed by cruel tortures intended to impose ideological conversion.

As seen above, the "order for the probation of Korean political offenders" was the one for exterminating the Korean nation based on the Japanese imperialists' gangster logic that Koreans should either obey the Japanese law or die.
