National and Local Intangible Cultural Heritages Newly Registered in DPRK
Pyongyang, December 24 (KCNA) -- Six objects were newly registered as national and local intangible cultural heritages in the DPRK this year.

The newly registered national intangible cultural heritages are "Old Legend of Mt Paektu", "Korean Greeting Etiquette (Korean Bow)", "Metallic Industrial Art" and "Manual Technique Therapy". And the new local intangible cultural heritages are "Legend of Mt Jongbang" in North Hwanghae Province and "Traditional Embroidery of Anju" in South Phyongan Province.

The "Old Legend of Mt Paektu" praises the grandiose, magnificent, ever-changing and mysterious shapes and sceneries of Mt Paektu. It is constant with the aspiration and desire of the Korean people to revere, protect and shine Mt Paektu as the ancestral mountain keeping the soul, stamina and lifeline of the nation.

The Korean bow is one of the greeting etiquettes peculiar to the Korean nation. Such lofty and superior greeting etiquette can be hardly found in the world.

The "Metallic Industrial Art" and "Manual Technique Therapy" show well the Korean people's creative wisdom and talents.

Mt Jongbang, located in Sariwon City of North Hwanghae Province, has many relics and remains associated with the wisdom and talents of the Korean nation and lots of legends about them have been conveyed until now.

The traditional embroidery method created by people of Anju area in South Phyongan Province has been handed down up to now.
