The enactment of the Socialist Constitution provided a legal guarantee for firmly defending our state social system and gave the Korean people a powerful weapon to vigorously accelerate socialist construction, the editorial says, and goes on:

The Socialist Constitution of the DPRK is the socialist political charter.

It legislatively fixed the achievements made in the socialist revolution and construction in the DPRK and comprehensively stipulated the fundamental principles to be adhered to in the fields of politics, economy and culture, the basic rights and duties of citizens and the composition and missions of state organs and principles of their activities.

The revolutionary and popular characters of the Socialist Constitution lies in the fact that it firmly defends the socialist system, brings the advantages of the Korean-style socialism into full play and provides all kinds of conditions by law for ensuring the genuine freedom and rights of the people in all fields of state social life.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un saw to it that the Socialist Constitution was revised and supplemented and named it the Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Il Constitution in the new century of Juche. He also clarified the orientation and ways for developing the socialist legal system including perfecting the legal system of the country and enhancing the role of law in the state social life.

The work for revising and supplementing the laws and regulations has intensified to meet the requirements of the Party's policy and the developing reality.

The legal foundations for the independent and creative life of the Korean people have been firmly consolidated by the enactment of different laws including the DPRK law on recycling, law on provision of education of young people, law on social insurance and social security, etc.

The editorial calls upon all the people to further develop our state social system and vigorously promote a new comprehensive development of socialist construction by remaining true to the constitution.
