Progress Made in Improving Educational Conditions and Environment of DPRK

Pyongyang, December 28 (KCNA) -- Successes have been made in the work to improve the educational conditions and environment of the DPRK this year. According to data available, the construction and refurbishing of more than 200 model schools were successfully finished and over 11,400 classrooms turned into multi-functional ones across the country, thus further strengthening the material and technical foundations for the educational sector. The model school construction and refurbishing projects were pushed forward in different parts of the country amid the social atmosphere of helping the educational field. Officials and working people in Pyongyang City and Jagang and South Phyongan provinces took the lead in the work for improving the educational conditions and environment. Ryanggang, North Hwanghae and South Hamgyong provinces held fast to the educational work as the provincial undertaking and gave responsible boost to it so as to steadily improve the educational conditions and environment. More than 3,500 laboratories got sufficient conditions across the country amid the active assistance for providing our rising generations with better educational conditions and environment. Progress was also made in building and modernizing teacher training colleges. North Phyongan Province and Nampho City gave precedence to the provision of materials indispensable to the erection of teacher training colleges and sped up the construction to finish the planned construction project for this year. North Hwanghae Province is pushing ahead with the construction of Sariwon Teacher Training College at the final stage. |
