This is one of the tasks put forward at the 4th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee held at the end of December of last year.

Officials of the Ministry of Public Health are making strenuous efforts to bring about a vivid advance in this year's public health, true to the decisions of the plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee.

They are organizing the work, down to the last detail, for completing at high level the modernization of the factories producing medical instruments, medicine and medical supplies while focusing on building up the material and technical foundation.

Medical appliances factories are urged to push forward with local production of raw and other materials.

The work for changing the appearance of curative and preventive institutions and completing medical service system, means and methods with the help of advanced medical technology and modern medical equipment continues.

A plan is being mapped out in order to make the system for quality management of medical service newly introduced to central and provincial hospitals take effect, improve the first-aid medical service and introduce an information system for healthcare for residents.

The work for training more medical workers versed in advanced diagnostic and treatment methods and a high diagnostic skill is also pushed ahead with.
