In this regard, Kim Chang Su, department director of the Education Commission, told KCNA:

Mindful that a shortcut to attain the key objective of educational revolution in the new century lies in thoroughly implementing the Party's policy on education, all the officials of the Education Commission have turned out in its realization.

First of all, we are setting a prospective goal and mapping out workable plans in detail while studying the tasks of the educational sector set forth at the 4th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee.

In particular, we are finding the ways for perfecting the education system for able students, training lots of excellent sci-tech talents for different fields and reinforcing the ranks of teachers in the local areas and countryside both in quality and numerical terms.

Min Kyong Ju, principal of a junior middle school in Pyongyang, said:

What is very important in training the students into creative and able talents is to enhance the qualifications and responsibility of teachers who are directly in charge of education.

We will strive to steadily improve the teaching methods in direction of cultivating the students' creative ability whereby to think and act in an independent and voluntary way while giving universal knowledge to them.
