After grasping the ecological adaptability of wheat strains widely cultivated in the country in liaison with provincial agricultural science institutes, the Dry-field Crop Research Institute has paid effort to the research for establishing a high-yielding cultivation technique suited to relevant regions.

It also set it as a main target to breed a new spring barley strain appropriate for beer brewing. And it is conducting the research into new strains of potato and after-crop bean for double-cropping.
