Past Crimes Done by Japan against Korean Nation
Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- Recorded in the history of Japan's aggression on Korea is a hideous crime of poisoning Emperor Kojong of the feudal Joson dynasty (1392-1910).

After the assassination of Empress Myongsong by the Japanese imperialists in October 1895, Kojong felt extremely uneasy about the destiny of the country. When the Japanese imperialists forced the conclusion of the "Ulsa Five-point Treaty" on him in 1905, he stubbornly refused to sign and seal.

Even after the fabrication of the "treaty", he spearheaded secret diplomatic activities to invalidate it by relying on outside powers and called for an anti-Japanese volunteers' struggle by urging the Confucians to kill the resident-general Ito and Hasegawa, commander of the Japanese imperialist forces in Korea, in his secret written order.

Upset by such negative influence on their colonial rule over Korea, the Japanese imperialists carried their plot of killing him into practice.

First of all, they helped Ri Wan Yong, a pro-Japanese traitor, assume the power as "head of government" to dislodge the Emperor from the political circle and formed a new pro-Japanese cabinet. Then they revised the "cabinet regulations" in June 1907 to establish a system enabling the pro-Japanese cabinet to resist the Emperor.

When the Hague emissary incident occurred, the Japanese imperialists let the pro-Japanese traitors dethrone Kojong with the incident as an excuse.

In January 1919, the imperialists let their puppet Han Sang Hak poison Kojong. To cover up the poisoning, they assassinated two court ladies who witnessed the incident.

But, the truth behind the case was revealed to the world. Its detailed accounts were found in the diary of Yujaburo Kuratomi, an officer of Japan's royal office. And a professor of the United States claimed the possible poisoning by the Japanese imperialists.

Indeed, the Japanese imperialists are heinous bandits and murderers who unhesitatingly poisoned even the emperor of a country, a state-backed terror, after setting it as their state policy to exterminate the Korean nation.
