New Sugar-producing Enzymes with High Activity Developed in DPRK
Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) -- Scientists of the Microbiological Research Institute under the State Academy of Sciences in the DPRK brought about research success that can contribute to solving an issue of sugar urgently needed in the foodstuff industrial sector.

They established a science-based technology for industrial production of two kinds of enzymes with high activity in making sugar from starch and thus laid a foundation for spawning enzymes for sugar production with domestic materials and technology.

Those enzymes have been introduced into different foodstuff factories to promote the production of corn syrup, glucose, alcohol, etc.

The scientists of the institute are now pushing ahead with the research to enhance the activity of the said enzymes and expand their production scale and develop the technology for producing various new industrial enzymes.
