Pyongyang, January 23 (KCNA) -- The land and environment protection sector of the DPRK strives to make a big stride in developing land and improving the ecological environment this year. Officials of the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection and those concerned in every province, city and county have mapped out plans out of their new readiness and resolution to thoroughly implement the tasks set forth at the Party plenary meeting. They are expediting the drawing up of a nationwide master plan for land development including mid- and long-term greening projects. A down-to-earth plan for accelerating the forest restoration campaign this year is worked out. Stepping up the modernization of the Central Tree Nursery and the construction of the Academy of Forest Science, those officials make thorough preparations for mapping out a prospective ten-year plan of afforestation and water conservancy and certainly completing the projects for hillside and streamlet erosion control and river improvement before the rainy season. They push ahead with repairing and signposting motorways and building bridges, and take practical measures for keeping roads safe and clean. The issue of surveying and tackling the pollution caused by the units developing underground resources is under discussion. Substantial steps are taken to face-lift all farm villages across the country. The officials also push forward the work for proactively introducing good experience and technologies through frequent seminars and experience-sharing on afforestation. They put efforts into the work for laying material and technical foundations for realizing the home production of raw and other materials needed for land management. |
