When the spirit of devotedly implementing the Party decisions prevails throughout the Party, it can give full play to its leadership and fighting efficiency as the general staff of the revolution and dynamically lead the cause of socialism to shinning victory, the editorial says, and goes on:

We have achieved meaningful and precious successes in the first year for implementing the five-year plan by overcoming severe difficulties unprecedented in history by dint of self-reliance, true to the new programme of socialist construction set forth at the 8th Party Congress.

Last year was recorded in the history of the country as a year of great victory that opened up a prelude to a great change toward the overall development of socialist construction, thanks to the vanguard role and devoted struggle of all the Party members. They made a breakthrough of advance on all fronts of socialist construction from a firm viewpoint that they should carry out the Party decisions at any cost and with a resolute stand that they should fight to the death for implementing the Party decisions.

This year we face the tasks huger and heavier than last year's. Bigger hardships and difficulties and short supply will disturb our advance.

We should attain this year's struggle goals without fail in the face of severe difficulties, unfavorable conditions and circumstances. The success for implementing the five-year plan hinges on this year's struggle.
