Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, guided the meeting.

Attending the meeting were vice-premiers Pak Jong Gun and Jon Hyon Chol and other members of the Cabinet.

Present there as observers were officials of institutions directly under the Cabinet and ministries, chairpersons of the provincial, city and county people's committees and officials of agricultural guidance organs and major industrial establishments.

The meeting discussed as its first agenda item the measures for carrying through the important tasks set forth at the 4th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee and reviewed as the second agenda item the last year's work of the Cabinet for improving the economic management method.

Reports were made on the submitted agenda items.

They referred to the successes made in the struggle for hitting the major policy targets for the year 2021 decided at the 2nd Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee.

They said that a work has been pushed ahead to present the realistic economic management proposals, conducive to putting the national economy on a solid self-supporting, planned and serve-the-people basis and promoting its development in keeping with the fundamental requirement and direction for the improved socialist economic management, and apply them in practice.

Shortcomings and deviations revealed in last year's economic work and their causes and lessons were analyzed and reviewed with facts, and measures were presented to provide a sure guarantee for the implementation of the five-year plan by more properly organizing the economic work this year.

They also called for steadily exploring the economic management method and improving it in the direction of ensuring the state's unified guidance over the economic work, strengthening the organic connection and cooperation among the economic sectors and raising the economic efficiency in the whole realm of the national economy.

Speeches were made at the meeting.

The speakers expressed their determination to carry out this year's plan without fail by actively encouraging and amplifying the successes and experience made in last year's struggle and thoroughly overcoming negative practices like formalism and self-protection obstructive to the economic development.

Discussed at the meeting were the urgent issues in carrying out the Party's economic policy, including the issue of establishing the well-regulated work system and discipline in economic work and the issue of studying and completing our-style economic management methods capable of practically guaranteeing the economic development of the country and the improvement of the people's standard of living.

The meeting stressed the need to bring about a clear change in the state development and the people's living by decisively enhancing the responsibility and role of the leading economic officials and radically improving their working attitude and manner to devotedly implement the important tasks set forth at the 4th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee.

Relevant resolutions were adopted with unanimous approval at the enlarged plenary meeting of the Cabinet.
