Ri Tu Song, director of a department of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), and delegates and observers of the congress were present.

Han Jong Hyok, chairman of the C.C., UAWK, read out the letter of pledge to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

The letter of pledge stressed the need to deeply realize the important mission in the struggle for prosperity and development of our great state and strengthen the UAWK into the eternal political organization of the WPK.

It underlined the need to give top priority to the work for thoroughly establishing the monolithic leadership system of the Party and continue to intensify the work and thus make the UAWK rank the one organism sharing the idea, intention and action with the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un.

It expressed the will to vigorously carry out the three revolutions-ideological, technical and cultural and thereby transform all ris of the countryside in line with the demands of the three revolutions and firmly prepare all the agricultural workers to be the reliable performers and masters of the rural revolution under the uplifted slogan "For a fresh victory of socialist rural construction!"

It stressed the need to put all farming work on a scientific and technological basis, boost the rice and wheat farming, raise the hot wind of soybean and potato farming once again to certainly attain the goal of grain production, true to the Party's policy of agriculture.

It said that all the UAWK officials will become standard bearers of the rank and powerful engines leading the union members with their high revolutionary consciousness, warm tenderness and many-sided practical ability.

Then, speeches of pledge were made.

The speakers vowed to make a tangible contribution to attaining without fail the goal of grain production set forth by the Party and turning the rural villages across the country into rich and cultured socialist ideal villages, true to the ideas and spirits of the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee.
