Riding Competition Marks Lunar New Year's Day
Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- There took place a riding competition here on Feb. 1, the lunar New Year's Day.

Leading officials of the Party and the government watched the competition together with working people, youth and students in Pyongyang City.

Kim Il Guk, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, made an opening address.

An opening ceremony took place.

At the end of the ceremony, an outdoor riding contest began, divided into groups of professionals and amateurs.

Spectators enthusiastically cheered the riders.

At the indoor riding-drill ground there were amateurs' showjumping, pony showjumping and amateurs' riding without stirrups.

Riders' good techniques and children's good pony-riding showjumping skills evoked loud cheers of spectators.

A pony-riding contest began amid the excitement and joy of the spectators. The young riders' race revved up the atmosphere of the competition ground.

At the end of the riding competition, an art performance was given by artistes of the Mansudae Art Troupe, Wangjaesan Art Troupe and the National Folk Art Troupe.

Fireworks were displayed in the sky above the Mirim area to the tune of light music.
