Efforts for Increasing Per-hectare Yield of Grains Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- Agricultural officials and workers in the DPRK push ahead with the work to increase the per-hectare yield of grains this year.

Agricultural guidance organs of each province, city and county focus their efforts on the introduction of high-yielding strains which need less fertilizer and are shorter in growth term and resistant to different kinds of damage.

The introduction of new high-yielding strains is in full swing in South Hwanghae Province where the area for their cultivation has been expanded in recent years. Agricultural officials and workers in the province also step up the preparations for farming like production and transport of compost.

By deepening a collective discussion for the establishment of scientific farming system and method, North Phyongan Province directs main efforts to applying the cultivation methods for tackling damage by disastrous abnormal weather. In particular, the province propels the work for increasing the production of highly effective organic compound fertilizer.

South Hamgyong Province concentrates efforts on the preparations for cultivating newly found or rehabilitated tracts of land.

Other provinces put their efforts into improving the fertility of low-yielding farm fields, repairing and reinforcing the irrigation system and increasing the proportion of mechanized farm work.
