State Academic Degrees and Titles Conferred on Exemplary Intellectuals in DPRK

Pyongyang, February 13 (KCNA) -- State academic degrees and titles were conferred on exemplary intellectuals on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il. They achieved research successes conducive to the development of the national economy and improvement of the people's living standard and tangibly contributed to the education of the rising generations through their strenuous efforts. Professorship went to 27 persons including Kang Chol, department head of Kim Il Sung University, Kim Yong Chol, faculty head of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Choe Pom Hun, director of the post-graduate school of Pyongyang University of Transport, Hwang I Chol, academic advisor to the University of National Economy, Ri Yong Sok, department head of the Phyongsong University of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Kim Chol Su, director of the Academy of Coal Mining Science, and Kim Un Chol, deputy director of Korea General Red Cross Hospital. Doctorate was conferred on 105 persons including Choe Myong Ok, teacher of Kim Il Sung University, Sim Kyong Ho, teacher of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Kim Song Chol, department head of Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering, Mun Yong Ran, a teacher of the University of Sciences, Ri Il Ju, a researcher of Pyongyang University of Architecture, Jang Hak Chol, deputy department head of Phyongsong University of Coal Mining, Chae Yong Chol, section chief of Hamhung University of Hydraulic Engineering, and Ri Yong Chol, manager of the Tokchon Area Coal-Mining Complex, and Ri Kye Bong, manager of the Kumsong Tractor Factory. Associate professorship went to 110 persons and master's degree to 991. |
