At the State Academy of Sciences, he called upon its scientists and researchers to focus on technical development and perfection, which are of crucial significance in the economic construction and the improvement of the people's living standard, and to enhance their responsibility and creativity in their drive for carrying out the important research tasks, true to the decisions of the 4th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Learning about the progress made in the project for establishing C-1 chemical industry, he stressed the need for officials and builders to attain the goal for this year's struggle, well aware of the Party Central Committee's intention to develop the chemical industry into the sector stronger in independence.

The field consultative meetings urged officials, scientists and researchers to give full play to their creativity with redoubled efforts, discussing the issues of strengthening the organic nexus and cooperation between scientific and research institutes and of pushing ahead with the project for establishment of C-1 chemical industry as planned.
