Banquet Given to Celebrate 80th Birth Anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il
Pyongyang, February 17 (KCNA) -- A celebration banquet was given in Samjiyon City on Wednesday, the 80th birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

It was given in honor of officials in the field of the preservation of revolutionary relics in Samjiyon City including lecturers of the Mt. Paektu secret camp performing an important duty of firmly defending and glorifying the revolutionary traditions of our Party, and exemplary working people and soldiers.

Joining them were Choe Ryong Hae and Kim Tok Hun, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and other leading officials of the Party, the government and the armed forces organs.

Ri Il Hwan, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the WPK Central Committee, made a speech.

He said that they were significantly celebrating the 80th birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il in the time-honored sacred place of the revolution, where the Juche cause originated and the Mt. Paektu secret camp housing his native home is situated, in Samjiyon City in which yearnings for the Chairman gets stronger over time.

He, upon authorization of the Party Central Committee, warmly congratulated the genuine owners of the modern mountainous city, honorable frontline soldiers of the sacred place of Paektu reliably defending the eternal treasures of our revolution rainy and snowy, regarding it as their greatest happiness to live and work in the yard of Mt. Paektu, which is the spiritual mainstay of our people and the source of the inexhaustible strength of our country.

He stressed the need for all of them to more wonderfully spruce up the native land of the revolution with ardent loyalty, being aware that the Chairman is wishing their future while always watching them who have made a great stride forward in the drive for the overall development of socialist construction.
