First People's Art Festival Closes
Pyongyang, February 19 (KCNA) -- The First People's Art Festival for Celebrating the Day of the Shining Star closed in the DPRK. A closing ceremony took place at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre on February 18.

Attending the ceremony were Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Ri Song Hak, vice premier of the Cabinet, officials concerned and the participants in the festival.

There was a prize-giving ceremony, where 24 persons were awarded individual prize, 6 works prize of ensemble and 13 units group prize.

And festival certificates and cups were conferred on them.

A letter of loyalty to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was adopted amid the enthusiastic cheers of the participants.

Minister of Culture Sung Jong Gyu, chairman of the festival organizing committee, made a closing address.

He said that the first festival strikingly demonstrated the iron faith and will of the Korean people to hold Chairman Kim Jong Il in high esteem as the sun of Juche forever and achieve a new victory in socialist construction under the guidance of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un.

He called on all the working people to become true creators and enjoyers of Korean-style socialist civilization by thoroughly implementing the Party's policy of making art prevail throughout the country and popularizing art and to sing more loudly songs in praise of the leaders, songs about unyielding struggle and advance and songs about revolutionary optimism at every socialist construction site.

Then a closing performance was given.
