Japan-DPRK Friendship Lecture Given

Pyongyang, February 19 (KCNA) -- A Japan-DPRK friendship lecture was given in Tokyo Metropolis, Japan on February 14 to celebrate the 80th birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il. It was sponsored by the Japan Committee for the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, the International Institute of the Juche Idea, the Japan-Korea Cultural Interchange Association, the Japan-Korea Society for Scientific and Educational Interchange, the Japan-DPRK Friendship Women Network, the Fact-Finding Group for the Probe into the Truth about the Forcible Drafting of Koreans, the Tokyo-Pyongyang Rainbow Bridge, the Tokyo Ward Assemblymen's Liaison Society for the Promotion of Japan-Korea Friendship, the Chiba Prefectural Association for Japan-Korea Friendship and the Kanagawa Prefectural People's Society for Promoting the Normalization of Japan-DPRK Diplomatic Relations.

Present at the lecture were Fumihiro Himori, chairman of the Japan Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, Masakazu Fujino, chairman of the Japan-Korea Society for Scientific and Educational Interchange, Ryoichi Hattori, chief secretary of the Social Democratic Party of Japan, members and officials of the Japanese Society for the Study of the Juche Idea, delegates from solidarity organizations in different areas of Japan, Japanese personages of various circles, the press, officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and Koreans in Kanto area.

Present there on invitation were Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, and So Chung On, director of its Department for International Affairs and Reunification.

Before the lecture, Fumihiro Himori and Nam Sung U made speeches.

A solidarity message from the Korean Society for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries was read out and a video of New Year celebrations from the DPRK was shown.

A lecture was given on the immortal leadership exploits performed by Kim Jong Il and the prospect of the internal and external situations of the DPRK in 2022.

After the lecture the participants said that they came to know better about the strategic line and policy set forth at the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea and the successes achieved by the Korean people in their struggle.
