Day of Shining Star Marked Abroad
Pyongyang, February 21 (KCNA) -- There took place celebrations, film shows and photo shows in Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Mexico and Ecuador from February 6 to 13 ahead of the 80th birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il, the Day of the Shining Star.

The events were attended by personages and other people in those countries.

A Korean film on the revolutionary career and exploits of the Chairman and others were screened at the film shows.

All the events showed deep reverence for the Chairman.

The chairperson of the Sweden-Korea Friendship Association said that the Chairman instilled great confidence and inspiration into the peoples of the countries aspiring to independence by championing the banner of socialism during the harshest-ever times.

The general secretary of the Central Committee of the People's Socialist Party of Mexico praised the Chairman for turning the DPRK into a politico-ideological power and military power and firmly defending the sovereignty of the country and nation.

The chairman of the Ostfold County Committee of the Communist Party of Norway praised Kim Jong Il as a peerless statesman and great man who developed the Workers' Party of Korea into a Juche-type revolutionary party and laid firm foundations for building a powerful socialist country.

The international secretary of the Finnish Communists' League recalled that the Chairman made an endless journey of field guidance for improving the people's living standard, always giving priority to their interests and demonstrated to the world the dignity and prestige of Juche Korea through his energetic external activities.

The chairman of the Denmark-DPRK Friendship Association said that Kim Jong Il's achievements for the global socialist cause would be remembered forever.

Congratulatory messages to the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un were adopted at the events in Switzerland, Sweden and Poland.
