The North Hwanghae Provincial Institute of Agricultural Science bred high-yielding rice strains resistant to typhoon and a rice species whose seedlings can be cultivated without using plastic sheet. It is conducting researches for establishing their cultivation technologies in a scientific way.

The Kangwon Provincial Institute of Agricultural Science directed its effort to the increase of seed productivity in order to introduce the rice species newly bred last year into the whole areas of the province. It is also striving to finish the research into breeding high-yielding autumn wheat strains and aftercrop bean strains within this year.

The South Phyongan Provincial Institute of Agricultural Science made clear the biological character of rice species strongly resistant to base and has strived to establish its cultivation technology.

Other provincial institutes of agricultural science, too, strive to develop growth promoter and nutritive substances with locally available raw materials and resources.
