Tree-planting Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- March 2 is Tree-planting Day in the DPRK.

On the day of 76 years ago, President Kim Il Sung climbed to Moran Hill, a scenic spot of Pyongyang, with Chairman Kim Jong Il and the anti-Japanese war heroine Kim Jong Suk.

Looking at the devastated hill due to the reckless deforestation of the Japanese imperialists who had occupied Korea for 40-odd years, the President told officials that many trees and flowers should be planted on the hill to turn it into a wonderful resort for Pyongyangites. All beauty spots in the liberated country belong to the people, he said, unfolding a far-reaching blueprint for afforestation.

Since then, a new history of afforestation began in the country.

With the day as an occasion, a spring tree-planting campaign has been conducted across the country every year.

The forestry sector secured hundreds of millions of saplings for this year's spring tree-planting campaign.

Working people, servicepersons and schoolchildren in different parts of the country have turned out in the tree planting, true to the noble intention of the Workers' Party of Korea to turn all the mountains of the country into thick woodlands.
