Vast Tracts of Non-paddy Fields Turned into Paddy Fields in Kangwon Province of DPRK
Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- Kangwon Province in the DPRK has dynamically pushed ahead with the work for expanding the area of paddy fields.

The province turned more than 1,000 hectares of dry fields into paddy fields and took measures for irrigation, thus providing a guarantee for increasing the paddy rice yield.

Officials of the provincial rural economy committee went to cities and counties to fix the areas to be transformed into paddy fields.

Giving priority to designing and material supply, they provided meticulous technical guidance so as to ensure efficiency and quality in the work.

Agricultural workers of the province pushed ahead with land rezoning by keeping various machines at full-capacity operation despite unfavorable weather in winter.

They also pushed forward with the projects for building irrigation waterways and rebuilding pumping stations.
