Under a grand plan for the capital city construction unfolded by the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), the construction of 10 000 flats in the Songsin and Songhwa areas was successfully completed in a short period of one year. Such a startling miracle is the fruition of high loyalty and devoted efforts of the builders bearing in mind the people-first principle, the political ideal of the WPK. It is also a clear demonstration of justness of our Party's idea of architectural beauty, potentiality of the Juche-based independent economy and great might of the single-hearted unity between the Party and the masses.

The Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) of the DPRK decided as follows in relation with the formation of a grand architectural group thoroughly preserving the Juche character, national character and modernity in the Songsin and Songhwa areas:

1. A section from the Songsin Bridge to Songhwa rotary intersection is designated as Songhwa Street.

2. The dongs in the Songsin and Songhwa areas are called Songsin-dong No. 1, Songsin-dong No. 2, Songhwa-dong No. 1 and Songhwa-dong No. 2 of Sadong District, Pyongyang City.

A relevant decree of the SPA Standing Committee was issued on Mar. 24.
