President Kim Il Sung indicated the orientation and ways for building the house as a modern structure of strong national coloring in a unique way while personally appointing the site for it and examining the miniatures several times.

Chairman Kim Jong Il wisely led the whole course of its construction, taking detailed measures to provide manpower, machinery and equipment and materials necessary for the construction so as to make sure that the structure is successfully built in line with the far-sighted plan of Kim Il Sung.

Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il visited the house on April 1, Juche 71 (1982) to proclaim its founding and took benevolent steps for turning it into a world-level library.

Under the detailed guidance and deep care of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the house is being further developed into a grand seat of learning for all the people and a base for the spread of sci-tech knowledge which plays a pivotal role in implementing the Party's policy on making all the people well versed in science and technology.

Over the past years, it has stored a lot of foreign books and sci-tech documents and offered various forms of lectures, training courses and reading service, innovating the contents and methods for teaching, to contribute to the country's economic development and the improvement of the people's living standard.

A meeting was held on March 31 to mark the 40th founding anniversary of the house.

Attending it were Thae Hyong Chol, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Ri Song Hak, vice-premier of the Cabinet, and officials and employees of the house.
