Pyongyang, April 6 (KCNA) -- Spring tree planting is brisk in the DPRK.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un planted memorial trees together with the participants in the 2nd Conference of Secretaries of Primary Committees of the Workers' Party of Korea on March 2, the Tree-planting Day. The news infuses all the people out in the spring tree-planting campaign with ardent patriotism.

Working people, youth and students have planted various kinds of flowers and trees on Munsu Hill.

Munsu Hill, located in Tongdaewon District of Pyongyang City, is associated with the immortal revolutionary exploits of President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and the anti-Japanese war heroine Kim Jong Suk who planted trees there on April 6, Juche 36 (1947).

The hill had been called Munsu Hill for its beautiful scenery from olden times. However, it was devastated during the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule over Korea.

That day 75 years ago, the President climbed the hill, stressing that to create the forests through dynamic afforestation is an important matter for developing the national economy, improving the people's living standard and achieving the prosperity of the country. And he dug pits to plant larch saplings.

Saying that a sapling should be treated carefully like a baby in order to protect its roots and trunk and be planted with much care, he personally covered the roots with soil and kept the balance of the sapling and then poured water into it before covering the roots with soil again.

The saplings grew into giant trees, conveying noble patriotism of the President.

Munsu Hill, covered with forests of larch, pine, pine-nut and other trees, has turned into a cultural resort for Pyongyangites.
