Attending it are over 600 men and women players from 40-odd organizations including Taekwon-Do teams throughout the country. They will compete in more than 60 events including Taekwon-Do, Wushu and Paduk during the championship.

Its opening ceremony took place at the Taekwon-Do Hall on April 8.

Present there were Ri Tu Song, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea who is also vice-chairman of the National Sports Guidance Committee, Kim Chun Sik, secretary general of the National Sports Guidance Committee, officials concerned, sports persons and Pyongyangites.

Vice-Premier of the Cabinet Kim Song Ryong made an opening address.

The championship will go on at the Taekwon-Do Hall and Taekwon-Do Holy House till April 18.
