Pyongyang, April 15 (KCNA) -- A lighting festival opened in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK on Thursday to celebrate the 110th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

The festival decorating a large space from Kim Il Sung Square to the Tower of the Juche Idea is bustling with citizens to view the beauty of lights.

Magnificent lights adorned the festival ground brilliantly amid the playing of songs in praise of the leader and the country.

Catchphrases and moving images were displayed on high-rise buildings around the Tower of the Juche Idea with rays of light emanating in various shapes.

Words such as "April 15", "Juche Idea" and "Prosperity by Dint of Self-Reliance" were displayed in succession against background scenes of the fluttering national flag and display of fireworks.

Fountains dancing above the waters of the Taedong River were spotlighted by colorful lights along with ships and yachts uniquely decorated with lights crossing each other skillfully, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Colorful decorative lights, placed throughout the green belt around the large stairs of Kim Il Sung Square, created a special night ambience.

The decorations artistically depicting the President's native home in Mangyongdae, the sacred mountain of revolution, Mt Paektu, the Chollima Statue and other state symbols let people look back on the prosperous history of Kim Il Sung's nation.

People entered the arch decorations ornamented with lit catchphrases "Pyongyang Is Best" and "We Are the Happiest in the World" to take souvenir photos and videos, having a good time.
