Joint National Meeting of KCU Organizations Held in DPRK
Pyongyang, April 15 (KCNA) -- A joint national meeting of the Korean Children's Union (KCU) organizations was held at Mangyongdae Revolutionary School on April 14 to mark the 110th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

It was attended by students of Mangyongdae Revolutionary School, Kang Pan Sok Revolutionary School and Pyongyang Primary School for Orphans, schoolchildren in Pyongyang and pupils joining the KCU.

Invited to the event were Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Yong Hwan, chief secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK, Ri Tu Song, department director of the Central Committee of the WPK, officials concerned, officials of the youth league and persons of merit in Pyongyang.

Before the meeting the participants laid a floral basket and bouquets at the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il at Mangyongdae Revolutionary School and made a bow to them.

Mun Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, made a report.

He said that the President, who formed the KCU, newly instituted its slogans as required by the developing revolution and led the schoolchildren to prepare themselves to be true sons and daughters remaining intensely loyal to the socialist country.

He noted that the Chairman made sure that the KCU members prepared themselves to be genuine young revolutionaries being aware of the Party and loving the country and people from their childhood and to be reliable future pillars of the country, knowledgeable, virtuous and healthy.

He stressed that the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made it a tradition to celebrate the KCU birthday on a large scale every year and had a photo session with the KCU delegates at the grand meeting of the KCU members.

He called on all KCU members to hold the great leaders in high esteem as the eternal sun of Juche, cherish the great love and trust of Kim Jong Un and prepare themselves to be genuine sons and daughters of the socialist country and young revolutionaries, true to the pledge they made before the KCU flag.

Then, a ceremony for joining the KCU took place.

Led by Secretary Ri Il Hwan, pupils joining the KCU were sworn in.

Officials and persons of merit put red ties around their necks and pinned KCU badges on their uniforms.

Congratulatory speeches were made by Kim Song Bong, rector of Mangyongdae Revolutionary School, Pak Pong Hui, principal of Okryu Primary School in Taedonggang District, and Jong Song Ok, secretary of the Korean Athletics Association.
