The festival, opened on February 9, had been staged in the period from the Day of the Shining Star, the birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il, to the Day of the Sun, the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, divided into political, art, sports and economic sections.

During the festival, its participants had such events as a question-and-answer study contest, a motivation contest and an oratory contest for deeply grasping the greatness and revolutionary exploits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and more thoroughly arming themselves with the revolutionary idea of our Party.

They contributed to invigorating all the people across the country in the struggle to implement the decisions made at the 4th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee, through intensive motivation campaigns, diverse art and sports activities and brisk socialist emulation movement and do-good-thing movement.

At the festival, Pyongyang City took the first place in total standings, South Hamgyong Province the second and Nampho City and South Hwanghae Province the third.

Its closing ceremony took place at the Hamhung Grand Theatre on April 19.

Mun Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, made a closing address.

He said that the festival served as an opportunity of demonstrating the faith and will of all the youths and children in the country to fully display their wisdom and courage in the all-people march for ushering in an era of the overall development of Korean-style socialism under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
