90th Birthday of KPRA Celebrated in DPRK

Pyongyang, April 26 (KCNA) -- All the people in the DPRK including the service personnel significantly celebrated the 90th founding anniversary of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA). An endless stream of visitors flew to the sacred temple of Juche, the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il lie in state. At the plaza of the palace, the visitors paid noble tribute to the great leaders. Civilians and servicepersons offered floral tribute to the statues of the President and the Chairman and the mosaics picturing their smiling images in different parts of the country, including Mansu Hill in the capital city of Pyongyang and Samjiyon City. Bunches of flowers were laid at the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt Taesong, the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery and statues and cemeteries of martyrs, memorial towers for the fallen soldiers of the Korean People's Army (KPA) and cemeteries of fallen fighters of the KPA across the country. Celebration meetings and oratorical contests were held and celebration performances were given at theatres throughout the country. Outdoor performances were given in different parts of Pyongyang to rev up the festive mood. Public commercial and catering establishments in Pyongyang and local areas were busy with holiday service. Working people and schoolchildren had a nice time at the Central Zoo, Natural History Museum and Munsu Water Park. There were dancing parties of youth and students and women's union members in Pyongyang and provincial seats, cities and counties. Officials, working people and students visited the families of war veterans and disabled soldiers to congratulate them on leading a worthwhile life under the care of the Party. Celebration billboards and fantastic light decorations were displayed in streets of the capital city and local areas to add to the festive mood. |
