Good results were recorded in the games, in which competitions were made in more than 470 categories of 27 events including football, basketball, volleyball and weightlifting.

Men and women players of the April 25, Amnokgang, Pyongyang, Kigwancha, Taesongsan and Chongchongang sports teams, the Chollima Steel Complex Sports Team, the Defence Sports Team of the Ministry of National Defence and the Amnokgang Defence Sports Team set new national records, breaking the Asian and world records in such events as weightlifting, shooting, swimming and short track speed skating.

Men players of the Ryomyong Sports Team and women players of the April 25 Sports Team took the first place in the football event, and men and women players of the April 25 Sports Team in the basketball event.

Present at the closing ceremony were Kim Song Ryong, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Ri Tu Song, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and vice-chairman of the National Sports Guidance Committee, officials concerned and sportspersons.

New Record Medal was awarded to those players who set new national records, and trophy cups and medals to teams and players who proved successful in the events.
