9th Sports Contest among Public Health Workers Opens

| Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The 9th sports contest among public health workers began with an opening ceremony at the Basketball Gymnasium in Chongchun Street on May 3. The sports contest is to be held at different gymnasiums in Pyongyang City, divided into two groups. The participants in the sports contest will compete in basketball (men), volleyball (men and women), table-tennis, a tug of war and Taekwon-Do matches. Present at the opening ceremony were Thae Hyong Chol, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Ri Song Hak, vice-premier of the Cabinet, officials concerned, officials in the field of public health, players and workers of central hospitals and the Academy of Medical Science. Minister of Public Health Choe Kyong Chol made an opening address. The sports contest will be held till April 12. |
