This year, the Ministry of Public Health, the provincial, city and county people's committees and relevant units have put spurs to transforming the village clinics into hospitals under the detailed plans.

In order to improve the medical service for rural inhabitants, officials of the ministry grasped the knotty problems on the spot and pushed ahead with the work to train competent medical workers and provide the provinces with enough medicines, medical equipment and appliances.

Officials in each province have conducted the work to lay material and technical foundations for transforming the village clinics into hospitals in touch with relevant units in the field of public health.

North and South Phyongan and Jagang provinces are taking the lead in this work.

Meanwhile, medical workers of the clinics strive to raise their technical and practical skills.
