Koryo Museum
Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung visited Songgyungwan on May 5, Juche 81 (1992), and gave instructions for national heritage conservation, saying that Koryo Museum should preserve the historical sites and relics of national value with much care.

Koryo Museum is a famous historical site and relic preservation base keeping in their origin scenic historical spots and relics in Kaesong, which was the capital city of Koryo, the first unified state in Korea.

It has been visited by more than 1 626 500 working people, youth and students and overseas compatriots over the past three decades.

The visitors went round several places of the museum, being briefed on the fact that the excellent cultural heritages of the Korean nation have been well preserved and the national tradition carried forward and developed thanks to the ardent love for the country and nation of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il.

They looked round the sites and relics including miniatures of the Mausoleum of King Kyonghyo and the Manwol Pavilion, Buddha and bronze gong.

They also watched the exhibits associated with the talents of the Korean ancestors who invented the metal type for the first time in the world and made Koryo ceramics regarded by the people as a treasure.

They came to know better about the history and culture of Korea through a lot of relics including a map dealing with the formation of Koryo, development of its productive force and excellent tradition of the Korean nation and showing Kaesong in the past, metallic currency and various weapons.

They kept the Korean nation-first spirit once again, watching Koryo paper, seven-storeyed pagoda of Hyonghwa Temple, stone lamp of Kaeguk Temple, etc.
