Brisk Sci-Tech Research in Metallurgical Industrial Sector of DPRK
Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- A campaign for enhancing sci-tech force of the metallurgical industry is getting brisk in the DPRK.

Scientists of the Ferrous Metal Research Institute of the State Academy of Sciences push ahead in the final stage with the research to improve various technical and economic indices of the UHP electric arc furnace at the Chollima Steel Complex.

They also concentrate their efforts on solving the sci-tech problems in establishing a steel production method by using multi-element mineral in the Sudong area.

Scientists of the May 28 Metal Research Institute under the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry have intensified their research activities.

At the Chongjin Steel Plant, scientists strive to lengthen the life of revolving furnace and increase its operating rate within this year.

Through the joint and cooperative work of research groups, they step up the research to settle the problems in Juche iron production by using lignite.

Scientists of the Juche iron research group of Kim Chaek University of Technology have deepened the research to confirm an operation way of energy-efficient oxygen heat blast furnace at the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex while concentrating efforts on further increasing the pig iron production by rationally fixing various indices of the existing oxygen heat blast furnace.

Those of other units, too, strive to solve the sci-tech problems for further perfecting the Korean-style iron-making method in a technological way and increasing the iron and steel production.
