Campaign for Prevention of Drought Damage Brisk in North Hamgyong Province
Pyongyang, May 8 (KCNA) -- North Hamgyong Province of the DPRK is putting all manpower and means into protecting the crops from drought damage.

The province has intensively watered more than 1 000 hectares of wheat and barley fields every day by using transport means including water trucks and tractors.

Its officials grasped all fields vulnerable to drought damage before taking timely measures.

The cooperative farms in Kim Chaek City have put efforts into watering fields and securing water and keeping pumping equipment in full-capacity operation.

Those in Kilju and Hwadae counties have pushed ahead with their farming processes as planned, while supplying enough water to hundreds of hectares of paddy and non-paddy fields every day through introduction of various methods.

Those in Myonggan and Orang counties arranged facilities for storing water before fields to ensure regular watering at the fixed time every day.

Officials and working people in Chongjin City and Kyongsong County took agricultural technological measures to ensure the growth conditions of crops.
