With a single purpose to open up a breach in this year's farming and create a firm foundation for rich harvest, officials and working people of the province completed the project for expanding hundreds of hectares of irrigation areas through a mass movement.

Hwangju County carried out river-bed dredging and river and waterway improvement projects to greatly increase the water passage capacity and secured over 150 hectares of irrigation areas through waterway improvement and structural projects.

Sohung and Singye counties turned dozens of hectares of dry fields into paddy fields by putting heavy machinery and vehicles into full operation.

Consolidating successes it achieved, the province has stepped up in real earnest the work to adjust and reinforce dozens of irrigation facilities, including underground ducts and pumping stations, as part of the project for protecting crops from drought damage.
