Proactive Efforts Made in DPRK to Prevent Damage from Drought
Pyongyang, May 10 (KCNA) -- Officials and working people in South Phyongan Province of the DPRK turned out in the campaign to protect crops from drought damage.

The province surveyed in detail the wheat, barley and maize fields liable to drought damage. And it has scrupulously worked on to concentrate all manpower and means on combating the drought.

Officials of provincial, city and county party, power and agricultural organs are now active at farms to guide the campaign against drought damage, directing primary efforts to the provision of enough pumping electric power and irrigation water.

They also make sure that institutions and industrial establishments provide farms with enough means for conveying water and that efficient irrigation methods are introduced.

Officials and workers of many industrial establishments and women's union members in the province, too, have turned out in the campaign for protecting crops from drought damage.
