Protection of Crops from Drought Damage Underway in DPRK

Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- South Hamgyong Province has steadily waged the campaign for protecting crops from drought damage while thoroughly checking the inroads of COVID-19. The province has positively conducted the organizational and ideological work for pushing ahead with farming as planned as required by the maximum emergency epidemic prevention system. To cope with the prevailing public health crisis, all cooperative farms in the province have pushed ahead with farming including tending rice seedbeds and watered fields in time and in a responsible manner while reinforcing the epidemic prevention posts and disinfecting definitely. Kumya County, giving top priority to the emergency epidemic prevention work, has strived to water wheat and barley fields that are damaged by drought and taken measures for providing water storages at the edge of fields which have less water resources. Sinhung and Jongphyong counties have fully watered farmlands by effectively using transport means and water pumping equipment. Farms in Hamhung City and Pukchong and Toksong counties have cultivated crops well by making tractor drivers fulfill their duty in sprinkling and doing farming as required by the Juche method of farming. |
