Present there were personages from various organizations and institutions such as the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-DPRK Friendship Association, the charge d'affaires ad interim and members of the DPRK embassy in Hanoi.

Speeches were made there.

The DPRK charge d'affaires ad interim emphasized the historic significance of the meeting between Chairman Kim Jong Il and President Tran Duc Luong.

He referred to the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un in developing the bilateral relations between the DPRK and Vietnam and the achievements being made by the Korean people in their struggle for the overall development of socialism.

Vice-chairpersons of the Vietnam-DPRK Friendship Association said that the friendly relations between Vietnam and the DPRK were established by the will of the leaders of the two countries, and that President Ho Chi Minh's visit to the DPRK in 1957 and President Kim Il Sung's visit to Vietnam in 1958 were events of special position in the development of the bilateral relations spanning several decades and the socialist construction.

Saying that the Vietnamese people have boundlessly revered Kim Il Sung who fully supported and encouraged their anti-U.S. resistance for national salvation, they stressed that the admiration for Kim Il Sung grows to be the one for Kim Jong Un.

Saying that the visit by President Tran Duc Luong to the DPRK in May 2002 was a very historic one, they added that the meeting between Tran Duc Luong and Kim Jong Il was of significance in determining the direction to the development of bilateral relations.

They expressed conviction that the people of the DPRK will achieve bigger success in socialist construction under the leadership of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un.
