Economic Organization and Guidance Intensified in DPRK

Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- The Cabinet and other state economic organs of the DPRK carry on the proper economic work to thoroughly implement the decisions made at the 5th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. On the basis of the detailed analysis of the achievements and defects made in the course of fulfilling the national economic plan for the first half of the year under the grave situation overlapped with a health crisis, their officials are focusing efforts on the economic work to successfully carry out the gigantic tasks for this year while taking positive and far-sighted measures to cope with any future sudden crisis. The Cabinet is taking a step to improve the status of the national economy by realizing the state's centralized and unified guidance over the economic work and further enhancing its function and role as an economic organizer. Discussed and confirmed are constructive views conducive to creating the conditions and climate for stable and sustained development of all the economic sectors and units by putting the planning work on a more realistic basis and deepening the productive relation among economic sectors and enterprises. Also, discussed are the significant and urgent problems to be settled on a priority basis in concentrating the state efforts on the work of rapidly building up the science force, such as the expansion of ranks of technicians and skilled workers by regarding talented persons and science and technology as the lifeline for economic development, and in utilizing the science and technology as a powerful weapon for the economic operation and guidance. Ministries and national institutions make innovative and workable proposals for propelling the economic development, focusing on the matter for carrying out the tasks for production and adjustment and reinforcement without fail. Various sectors of the national economy, including machine-building and mining industries and forestry sector, draw up the plans for pushing ahead with the current production and the technical updating and capacity expansion at the same time. |
