Campaign for Preventing Damage from Flood and Typhoon in DPRK

Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) -- Officials and working people in North and South Hwanghae and North and South Phyongan provinces and Nampho and Kaesong cities of the DPRK have concentrated all forces and means on the work to cope with possible flood and typhoon damage after an alert for downpour and rainstorm was issued. Party and government officials in those provinces, cities and counties are now active on the spots, urging each unit to find and set right all imperfection elements in consideration of a disaster and the residents and working people to strictly observe the anti-epidemic rules and order with maximum consciousness in the rainy season. All economic sectors in the western area focus their efforts on the struggle to prevent damage by flood and downpour and put the production on a normal basis. Agricultural officials and workers are dynamically conducting the work to protect the crops from natural disaster. Metal and chemical industrial establishments are making full preparations to protect the equipment and facilities from downpour and thunderbolt. The Chongchongang Thermal Power Plant, the Thaechon Power Station, the West Sea Barrage and others do their best to preserve the structures and equipment and maintain the technical state of floodgates on a high level. Workers in coal and mining industrial sectors take security measures for the dangerous spots vulnerable to flood damage, while overhauling drainage system, coal carriers and equipment in order to ensure the uninterrupted production in rainy season. Railway, fishing, land administration and urban management sectors, too, are striving to prevent natural disaster in the rainy season. |
