Inspecting the Ryuwon Footwear Factory, the premier urged its officials to mass-produce quality shoes by optimizing all production processes in keeping with the sci-tech requirements and steadily strengthening the ranks of technicians and skilled workers, mindful of the intention of the Party which set the production of consumer goods as one of the priority economic tasks for this year.

At the Pyongyang Leather Shoes Factory, he learned in detail about its reconstruction and modernization project and stressed the need to expand the production capacity under a long-term plan in keeping with the people's material and cultural demand and hasten the project as scheduled with emphasis put on raising the modernization level of production processes.

At the Sunchon Cement Complex, he encouraged its officials and workers in the efforts to implement the decisions of the 5th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee. He called for providing enough cement badly needed for the major construction projects and rural construction through an innovative operation and guidance over the production.

The field consultative meetings discussed the issue of enhancing the footwear production capacity and the quality of products to make the people benefit in real life, the issue of making the scientific research organs and relevant sectors actively assist the Sunchon Cement Complex in the repair of major equipment and technical updating, and other issues before taking relevant measures.
