Steps Taken to Minimize Flood Damage
Pyongyang, July 14 (KCNA) -- Agricultural officials and workers in South Hwanghae Province of the DPRK wage a campaign for protecting crops from damage by flood, heavy rain and strong wind.

Officials of the provincial rural economy committee have synthesized and analyzed the conditions of each city and county on spot and found out all dangerous factors before taking counter-measures.

They push ahead with the works to eliminate dangerous factors of irrigation structures and waterways, establish a monitoring and informing system in the areas around reservoirs and drainage facilities and finish the river-bed dredging in medium and small rivers and reinforcement of embankments.

On the warning against downpour and much rainfall and gale, farms in Yonan and Ryongyon counties frequently check the conditions of water pumping equipment, establishing a double power supply system.

Farms in Anak, Paechon and Pyoksong counties scrupulously cultivate crops in a scientific way to provide favorable conditions for their growth.

Farms in Chongdan, Kangryong, Unryul and other counties are concentrating all efforts and means on the protection of crops and land from tidal flood and typhoon.
