Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, guided the meeting.

Attending the meeting were members of the Cabinet.

Present as observers were officials of institutions directly under the Cabinet and ministries, chairpersons of the provincial, city and county people's committees and officials of the agricultural guidance organs and major industrial establishments.

The meeting reviewed the fulfillment of the national economic plan for the first half of the year and discussed measures for thoroughly carrying out the decisions made at the 4th and 5th plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee by unconditionally fulfilling the national economic plan for the third quarter of the year.

Pak Jong Gun, vice-premier of the Cabinet and concurrently chairman of the State Planning Commission, made a report at the meeting.

The report analyzed the mistakes and deviations, revealed in the economic work for the first half of the year, and their causes and lessons, and stressed that the officials should work out and conduct the economic work in a farsighted way in the spirit of unconditionally implementing the decisions of the Party's plenary meetings.

Set forth was the directions of work to make a stride forward in the struggle for the country's economic development and the improvement of the people's living standard.

The meeting discussed the issue of fulfilling the national economic plan for the second half of the year by simultaneously pushing ahead with the current production and maintenance and reinforcement in major industrial sectors, the issue of taking decisive measures to further improve the economic management system and method in keeping with the actual conditions and reinforce the state's unified command system and other issues.

Relevant resolutions were adopted at the meeting.
