Agricultural Sector Focuses on Flood Damage Prevention
Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- Agricultural officials and workers of the DPRK are pushing ahead with preventing flood damage.

North Phyongan Province takes full measures to ensure the operation of water pumps in any circumstances and repair waterways and drainage canals.

It has scrupulously organized the work while paying special attention to preventing arable land of farms along the River Chongchon and the coast from being inundated.

Officials of South Phyongan Province work to tackle spots vulnerable to natural disaster, including anti-tidal dykes, while making preparations to operate floodgates in any situation.

Those in South Hwanghae Province inquire into the actual conditions of rivers and draining and pumping equipment and take necessary measures, while ensuring that reservoir caretakers fulfill their responsibility and role.

Other provinces, too, put efforts into protecting arable land and crops from flood and landslide.
