| State Academic Degrees and Titles Conferred on Intellectuals in DPRK

| Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- State academic degrees and titles were conferred on intellectuals who have made achievements conducive to the economic development and the improvement of the people's living standard and tangibly contributed to the education of the rising generation. The title of Academician went to Pak Ji Min, president of Kim Chaek University of Technology, and the title of Candidate Academician to Kim Ryong Hung, section chief of Kim Il Sung University, and Paek Chon Ho, vice-director of the State Academy of Sciences. Professorship was conferred on Ri Song Chon, director of an institute of Kim Il Sung University, Jon Sun Jong, vice-president of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Pak Jong Hwa, a teacher of Kim Hyong Jik University of Education, and others. Doctorate was awarded to 79 persons, including Jang Kum Ryon, department head of Pyongyang University of Medicine, Choe Kwang Nam, director of an institute of Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering, and Kil Pyong Chol, section chief of Pyongyang University of Architecture. Associate professorship went to 134 persons and master's degree to 918. |
